French and Italian varieties from the old Cudgegong riverbank, Mudgee
Our wines are mainly produced from the Skimstone vineyard in Apple Tree Flat. However, due to increasing demand, we are excited to be sourcing fruit and making some select batches of wine from great quality vineyards from other parts of New South Wales. The wine from these different vineyards will fall under our Vineyard Selection range.
Whether from Mudgee or further afield, our philosophy of care and attention to quality of viticulture, winemaking, and our wine remains the same.
VERAISON IN THE BARBERA
The flagship of the Italian plantings. The 2023 Barbera leads with rhubarb, poached cherry, white pepper and nutmeg, and carries the acid line the variety is planted here for. A wine that suits almost any occasion.

The Chardonnay that converts people who say they do not drink Chardonnay. Part stainless steel to keep the fruit clean and direct, part barrel to give it structure. Bright and aromatic, and easier drinking than its complexity suggests. Good with seafood or a roast chicken.
Golden in the glass with a green edge. Corella pear, fresh orange zest and ripe passionfruit on the nose, then toffee and choux pastry through a palate held together by balanced tannin. Drink now, or give it up to eight years and let it move.
Seven years in bottle have taken this somewhere the young wine could not go: jammy red berry, portobello mushroom and smoky cigar, deep ruby in the glass, bold but thoroughly round.

Raspberry, rhubarb and something close to fairy floss on the nose, then a palate like freshly pressed pomegranate. Made for a warm afternoon.
Provencal in style. Ripe red berry over a savoury, dry finish, with the brightness that comes from picking in the cool of the evening and pressing straight away. Clean, fruity, and the wine that carries spring into summer.

Latin for the blood of Jupiter, Tuscan by origin, and the backbone of Chianti. It has taken well to the Mudgee blocks. Selected from the best rows and aged in old French oak: medium-bodied, cherry and ripe berry, earthy spice, bright acid. Good on its own, better with anything tomato-based.
Three waves, in Italian, and it began as a mistake. The Sangiovese had lovely aromatics but little colour, tannin or depth, so it was blended with Merlot and Shiraz to fill what was missing. What came out balanced the Sangiovese perfume against the Shiraz tannin and the round Merlot finish. The mistake has been repeated deliberately every year since.
Strength and gentleness in the same glass. The estate Cabernet Sauvignon brings richness, firm tannin, dark berry depth and the vanilla, cigar and chocolate that come off French oak. The Merlot brings bright red fruit and a softer tannin that rounds the whole thing out. Power, length and fruit. Grilled lamb with rosemary and sea salt.

The Mudgee classic. The region built its name in the 1970s on full-bodied warm-climate red blends, and this is a nod to that: rich, tannic Cabernet Sauvignon melded with fruity, spiced Shiraz. Pair it with robust cooking, cold weather, or a barbecue and a good steak.

The range now reaches beyond the estate, and the first pick for 2021 came from the Moppity Vineyard in the Hilltops, Southern New South Wales. Cabernet gives the boldness and the firm tannin; Merlot gives the fruit and a rounder texture through the finish.
